Revitalization of the Pointe-Claire Village

Stay informed and participate in the implementation of the Pointe-Claire Village Special Planning Program!

Aiming to make the Pointe-Claire Village an appealing location and a prime destination in the West Island, while enhancing its heritage, a new project was launched in 2013 when the City teamed up with Convercité, experts in public participation and commercial revitalization, to conduct a diagnosis of the Village’s strengths, weaknesses, limits and opportunities, and identify the main urban planning and developments issues facing the Village. The first stage involved the participation of citizens, business owners and community organizations, and the results were presented at a public meeting held in April 2014. This diagnosis became the basis for the elaboration of a Special Planning Program (SPP).

During the second stage of the project, the City teamed up with L’Atelier Urbain, a firm specialized in urban planning and development, to write the SPP. In February 2016, the preliminary version of the document was presented to the community at a public consultation at John Rennie High School and the SPP was adopted shortly thereafter, in June 2016, by City Council.

Since then, the City has started to implement the SPP.
